First posting

I've been thinking about starting a blog for some time now. Many of my friends and some of my children blog. I'm not your typical blogger, though. I just retired, at a real retirement age, from an internationally-known computer chip company. I am mother of 6, grandmother of 19, sister of 3. I'm pretty sure I don't fit the profile.

Although I just retired, my DH, Big-T, has been retired for 12 years. The state of Utah forced him to retire when they realized he couldn't see well enough to do his job well. It was a good decision on their part and it allowed Big-T to indulge himself in pursuing his hobbies. His favorite kind of day is to spend some time in his shop being creative and then spend the evening playing chess on his computer. Now, though, he says he's going back to work.

So, while I'm trying to figure out how to be retired and keep moving forward with life, Big-T is getting ready to ramp up into work life again. We've complicated our life transitions by planning to move from Oregon to Utah to be closer to most of our grandchildren - but Big-T's job, if it pans out, is going to be in Ohio. I'm packing for Utah and playing it by ear, on a day-to-day basis, as to how and when we'll migrate on to Ohio. Ohio?? Really??? We have no grandchildren in Ohio.

I think this blog is going to be about the bumps we encounter as we make these major life changes, and how we deal with them. Along the way, you'll probably hear about frustrations and aggravations. For example, this week we've been dealing with a nasty stomach bug which has flattened Big-T for a couple of days. Hopefully, you'll also hear about triumphs and progress.
